Bartering System
ProBart is a community-based produce exchange network focused on strengthening local food security, reducing food waste, and supporting sustainable urban agriculture across Guelph.
Created through the work of the Skov Park Neighbourhood Group, ProBart connects community gardens, volunteers, households, and neighbourhood organizations through a simple barter system rooted in mutual aid, sustainability, and community resilience.

Reduce food waste
Surplus produce from local gardens gets shared with the community instead of going unused — good for the garden, good for Guelph.

Trading produce is an opportunity to connect with neighbours. ProBart is a tool for mutual aid and local resilience, not just exchange.

Why ProBart exists
ProBart was developed to help address two growing challenges within the community: increasing food insecurity and the large amount of surplus produce often left unused in local gardens during peak growing seasons.
The platform helps connect surplus food with community need while encouraging stronger neighbourhood relationships and local cooperation — making it easier for gardeners, households, and organizations to share what they grow.
Funding & community support
ProBart was launched with primary support from The Oak Tree Project, a Guelph-Wellington initiative focused on strengthening local charities and supporting innovative community-based solutions.
The project has also been supported through partnerships, volunteers, and community collaboration connected to:
- Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition
- The City of Guelph
- Local community gardens and residents
- Volunteers and neighbourhood leaders across Guelph
About the Skov Park Neighbourhood Group
The Skov Park Neighbourhood Group is a community-focused organization supporting neighbourhood wellbeing, food security, inclusion, environmental sustainability, and community connection through volunteer-driven initiatives and local programming.
The group has supported projects including:
